I began running in June of 2009 following the sudden death of my brother-in-law. I had walked for years but never really pushed myself. As I walked (and prayed) I began to feel a new strength so I started to run. I could run less than a block at a time in the beginning but soon I was running about 3 miles several times a week. I loved the feeling and made running a permanent part of my life. My sisters ran the Chicago Half-Marathon together (along with my dad) in September of 2010. I secretly wanted to join them but didn't think I could ever run that far. I ran my first official 5K on Thanksgiving morning with my daughter, dad, sister and nephew. I felt such a sense of accomplishment that I decided to train for more. Fast forward to February, 2011. My sister asked me to look at her facebook and consider joining her on an adventure. At the same time my daughter sent me a text and said, "Have you seen Aunt Jaime's facebook? I'm in!" What they were in for was the Ragnar Relay, a relay from Madison to Chicago. It is 200 miles, 36 hours and a team of 12 amazing women. After contemplating the challenge for a few hours I decided that I, too, was in. Here is where my story begins...
